Staying informed

Where to get trustworthy information when things go wrong.

Sources

  • Emergency Alerts are sent to phones in the affected area. Keep them switched on.
  • Your local BBC radio station carries local information. Note its FM frequency on the Plan page.
  • Check your council, the Met Office and your utility companies’ websites.
  • Social media can be out of date or wrong. Check before you share.

Save battery

  • Keep calls short. Texts often get through when calls do not.
  • Turn on low-power mode and dim the screen.
